Chemical Peel

definition

A cosmetic procedure for the removal of facial blemishes and wrinkles that involves the application of a caustic chemical and especially an acid (such as alpha hydroxy acid) to the skin.

Medical Grade Chemical Peels use an enzymatic solution to improve and smooth the texture of the skin by removing its damaged outer layers. After a single treatment you will notice a reduction in fine lines and wrinkles, lightened skin discolouration, acne reduction and smoother skin texture. Our skilled therapists may recommend a light / superficial peel or a deeper peel depending on your individual needs.

Our treatments

Enzyme Peel

Our Enzyme Peel courtesy of Synergie Skin features a synergistic blend of papaya enzyme and 15% lactic acid to stimulate cellular renewal and leave skin looking soft, plump and hydrated.

Is this a strong chemical peel?

The enzyme peel is our most superficial and softest chemical peel available. While you may experiencing tingling or itching during the treatment, most discomfort will fade post treatment. Any redness can be covered with mineral makeup.

Lactic Peel

The Lactic Acid Peel is a highly active yet gentle chemical exfoliation treatment. This peel amplifies the skin’s natural moisture properties, inhibits tyrosinase (pigmentation forming enzyme) production and stimulates cell growth to help achieve firmer, hydrated, more evenly pigmented, and glowing skin.

What is the Lactic Acid Peel used for?

Due to it's melanin formation reducing properties, those wanting to reduce or harmonise skin pigmentation are recommended to use the lactic acid peel.

What is the downtime with this treatment?

Depending on your skin sensitivity, some clients may experience redness for 3-5 days and a feeling of skin tightness similar to sunburn. It is recommmended to avoid direct sunlight for up to two weeks and the use of serums for 3-5 days post treatment.

Salicylic Peel

The Salicylic Peel is best suited to those with acne and acne scarring. It helps to dramatically improve and heal skin caused by acne by reducing inflammation and killing acne causing bacteria.

What percentage of salicylic acid do you use?

We have both 20 and 30 percent salicylic acid available.

What is the difference from doing a salicylic peel at home?

Most store bought salicylic products may be of a lower quality and percentage than the clinical brands we keep in stock. Our peel treatments are also accompanied by an entire facial treatment from cleansing to aftercare so that your skin receives everything it needs with no effort on your part.

What should I expect post treatment?

Your skin may feel a stinging sensation during treatment which should disappate once the peel is neutralised and removed. Some redness and flaking may occur for a few days post treatment which is completely normal. Avoid direct sun exposure and the use of any harsh cleansers or fragrances.
