8 simple yet effective measures for acne prevention

The face is the most visible and recognisable part of the body. To have it covered with acne would be such a pity. Many would consider it more than just an annoyance. This is why many people all over the globe, whether from Sydney or Singapore, will go to great lengths to rid their face of any traces of acne. This may range from a simple facial rejuvenation to a drastic scarring treatment.

But there are simpler ways to prevent breakouts from happening. Take note of these eight helpful tips:

1. Wash regularly

Twice every day – no more, no less. This should be how often you wash your face each day. Doing this would remove dead skin cells and extra oil from the skin. Don’t go over this recommended number as you’ll risk drying out your skin. Also avoid using harsh pieces of cloth and instead use your hands or a soft cloth when washing your face.

2. Moisturise

Dry skin is one factor that can trigger a breakout. To prevent this, regularly moisturise to keep your skin hydrated.

3. Keep your hands off

Your hands are the dirtiest parts of your body. Touching your face then means transferring all the dirt from your hand to your face. Touching your face may also cause irritation, which will in turn cause a breakout.

4. Apply make-up sparingly

Many of the ingredients in make-up products are not very good for the skin, so it’s important to use them sparingly. If you do wear make-up, make sure to wash this off at the end of the day. Also, make sure to use products that are oil-free and don’t have added chemicals.

5. Change pillowcases weekly

Pillows are prone to dirt and sweat. If it takes you a month to change your pillowcases, then you would be lying your face on one month’s worth of grime. Make sure to wash pillowcases every week to keep them clean and your face fresh. Also, take note of the laundry detergent you’re using. Detergents with chemicals and harsh fragrances might irritate your skin.

6. Check your shampoo

Shampoos and conditioners also contain harsh chemicals so make sure to check these before buying and using them. Try using natural products and non-fragrance products to avoid skin irritation.

7. Get sun protection

When out in the sun make sure your skin is protected. Always wear sunscreen and don’t forget to bring your moisturisers especially if you plan on going to the beach. Aside from preventing acne breakouts, having adequate sun protection also prevents premature development of wrinkles.

8. Eat healthy and exercise

Eating the right food and exercising will help your skin look healthy and radiant. Plus, exercising will release endorphins which help reduce stress, one of the factors that trigger acne breakouts. These eight measures are simple things that you can easily do to prevent acne breakouts. Make sure to follow these to have vibrant and young-looking skin.
