Sun-damaged skin? LimeLight may be the laser treatment for you

The LimeLight laser can treat any part of the body, however the usual area are those that have had significant UV light exposure such are face, neck, hands, arms, shoulders and décolletage (upper chest).

Laser light is applied to the skin with a thin layer of ultrasound gel, and treatment time depends on how large the area is that needs treatment. When the pulse of light is delivered, patients will experience a mild pinching or stinging sensation, with no down time and pain medication is not normally required.

Brown spots, flaking, redness and mild swelling may appear post treatment. This is only temporary and will subside within a few days. It is important that you do not expose yourself to the sun and do not irritate the area treated. Mineral Make-up can be applied to cover any redness.

Treatment usually takes less than 1 hour and it is usual that 2 – 3 treatments are required to receive optimal results. New brown spots, telangiectasia and redness may appear again with new sun damage and the application of a sun block is necessary on a daily basis to help prevent further sun damage. Rosacea is a chronic condition and cannot be “cured” with any laser or light source, however its appearance can be improved.

What are the possible side effects? Side effects are minimal, slight reddening and local swelling of the skin and some bruising may occur. These effects typically last for less than 24 hours.
